Hi, I’m Amelya Foster, founder of the Resilience Center and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My journey into the field of social work began in 2012 after experiencing the profound loss of a dear friend to suicide. As I walked through the painful process of grief, I found myself searching for meaning and purpose within that loss. That journey led me to dedicate my career to helping others find hope, healing, and reasons to keep going.

Early in my career, I focused on suicide prevention, supporting individuals during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Throughout this work, I was honored to help people find safety, hope, and a path forward. However, I also began to recognize a deeper pattern—many of the individuals I worked with were carrying the weight of significant, unresolved trauma, painful experiences, and wounds that had never been fully addressed.

This realization changed the way I understood healing. I began pursuing additional education and specialized training to better understand trauma, its impact on the mind and body, and the ways it can shape how people see themselves, their relationships, and their future.

What I discovered was life-changing: when we have the opportunity to heal the root of our pain, we do more than simply learn to cope—we create the possibility for true transformation. People who once felt stuck began to heal. They rebuilt connections, rediscovered their strengths, and found hope where they once felt only pain.

This understanding became the foundation for the Resilience Center.

I believe every person has a story worth understanding, and every person deserves a space where they feel seen, heard, and supported. My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, connection, and the belief that healing is possible when we address not only the symptoms of suffering, but the experiences that created the wounds.

At the Resilience Center, our mission is to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families as they navigate trauma, grief, life transitions, and emotional challenges. We strive to create a safe, supportive environment where healing can begin, resilience can grow, and people can reconnect with the hope and purpose that already exists within them.

Your story matters. Your healing matters. And you do not have to walk this journey alone.
